Oak Flat Lookout Ride Report

The Mag 5 hit the lookout again. Tigert, Snider, Dano, Booher and Potter arrived on the scene mid afternoon Friday. Partly cloudy skies with rain earlier in the week leaving the trails primed and ready. Day 1 route: Oak Flat Lookout Trail to Badger Gap to "Booher Cow Trail". Per usual, there were several off-trail excursions from Tigert and Booher. At 25 miles Tigert, Snider, & Dano headed back to the tower to enjoy the keg and views. Booher and Potter soldered on. Maybe it's because Booher had filled his camelback from the keg earlier?

Hoisting the gear.

A different kind of Hoisting.

Booher with a GREAT idea.

When we arrived back at the tower we were greeted by Special Ed, with his very special $200 1996 CR250 now outfitted with the period-correct "nuclear red" plastics. Braaap, ringy, ding, ding, Braaap!

Day two we woke up in a thick cloud. Pretty damn wet. Visibility maybe 15 feet. Tigert, Special Ed, Snider, & Dano headed up Rancheria to get to the good stuff. Some exploring around Evans Flat, up It's Fantastic to Just Outstanding and then back the way we came. Epic ride. Another stone groove my man.

Pala MX National

The Mag 5 and a Mag-ette (Junko) made it out to watch the Pala National MX. We arrived in style considering we somehow finagled the use of HRA's Fun Mover. Sun, Beer, Moto, Tacos, a good time for sure. Track looked GNARLY, with huge jumps and super high speeds.

The next day we headed over to Cahuilla Creek MX. Keating (#301) met up with us out there. Tyler in red gear on the RMZ, Ed #20, Jaimie in the green gear on CRF250, Chris Bao on the KTM, & Dano in red, white, blue on CRF250. Track was in great shape, flowing layout, fun jumps, and they did a good job of keeping water on it. Followed by burgers at The Stagecoach Inn after wards.

Kern Ride Day 1 - Piutes

As the Mag 5 slogan says, "three are ideal" and with Booher, Cowboy, & Dangry being those 3 on this occasion, the ride, as expected, was an epic that included at least some yelling, but "not too much strain on everyone's good nature."

Helmet Tree
Piutes were generally dry, but included many, many water crossings. This one was deep and stinky.

The Piutes consist of a spaghetti network of trails. A little hard to follow, but the rule is "see trail, take trail." We found some epics, like this one we now refer to as "The Cabin Trail"... who knows what it's really called.

Here's the two loops we did, total of 53 miles.

Cowboy and Pooher should settle all their differences this way:
